Why do some medications have different names in different countries? |
Each medication has a trade or brand name registered by the manufacturer. Manufacturers often use different names for the same drug in different countries. Medications are chemically identical, but may look or be packaged differently. |
Why does my medication look different? |
When you order your medication from one of our International pharmacies, you may notice they are different than the medications you purchase at your local pharmacy. As with the Canadian medications you order, both provide the same treatment and have the same therapeutic effect. Below is an explanation of the differences you may find: Trade Names - Some prescriptions dispensed by our International pharmacies are marketed under a different name by the manufacturer. Pharmaceutical companies choose to market the same drug under a different brand name to target consumers in different countries. Despite the different name, these are the same medications you were prescribed. Packaging - Some of the drugs may be dispensed differently than what you are used to. For example, you may receive a blister package instead of a bottle. In addition, the packaging may look different or contain a logo. In order to appeal to different markets, the drug manufactures will often change the "look and feel" of their product from one country to another. Despite the different packaging, you are still receiving the medication your doctor prescribed. Physical Appearance - Not all medications, even those made by the same manufacturer, look the same. For example, a yellow pill in the United States may be manufactured as a blue tablet in Canada. The same is true for drugs manufactured for the UK, Australia or New Zealand. Drugs received from our partner pharmacies may be in a different color or form than you are used to. The size and/or shape may also differ. Despite the different physical appearance, your medication will still contain the same active ingredient and provide the same therapeutic effect. |
Why are some prescription medications less expensive in Canada than in the US? |
Most drugs cost less in Canada due to factors that include the unique regulatory environment governing Canada's pharmaceutical industry. Prescription medications remain affordable in Canada due to price controls established by the Canadian government. The Patented Medicine Prices Review Board was established in 1987 to protect consumer interests. Their mandate, ensuring that prices charged by manufacturers of patented medicine are not excessive, is maintained by strict pricing guidelines for companies selling prescription drugs in Canada. |
Will you accept my insurance plan? |
You should contact your insurance company to inquire whether you can be reimbursed or not. Unfortunately, most insurance plans are not designed to accept claims from a non-US pharmacy. If your insurer is the exception, please forward them the receipt accompanying your prescription. |
Can you transfer my prescriptions from my current pharmacy? |
Unfortunately, we cannot transfer prescriptions to our International pharmacies. We must receive a faxed copy of the original signed prescription. |
Can you fill prescriptions from American doctors? |
Yes we can, once one of our International doctors has reviewed and approved your prescription under his/her Country's license. |
Do I have to pay any taxes? |
No tax is applied to orders. Prescription medicines are tax-exempt. |
Are the prices listed in Canadian dollars or US dollars? |
All prices are listed in US dollars. The price you see is the price you pay, no conversions are necessary. |
How long will my order take to process? |
It takes at least 10 - 14 business days to process your prescriptions once we have your COMPLETE patient profile and your VALID American prescription, plus 7 to 10 business days for shipping. The entire ordering process can take up to 30 days to arrive at your door. |
What can delay my order? Your order can be delayed if you: |
Do not fax your original signed prescription in promptly. Do not answer all of the questions asked on the medical health questionnaire. Do not submit your credit card information via the online order form or telephone. Or if: the doctor and/or pharmacist requires additional information from you or your physician. You have an international order, in which case shipping time may be longer than normal. There is a discrepancy between your written prescription and what you have ordered. |
Can I buy Valium, Tylenol #3 or similar medications from Pharmocracy.com? |
We legally cannot ship any narcotic or controlled substance. We also will not sell any habit forming medications. |
Are all drugs available internationally? |
No. Not all medications are available in all countries. |
How does the quality of International medications compare to American medications? |
The International governments of participating pharmacies have very strict requirements for the manufacturing of medication in Canada. These requirements are very similar to the requirements in the US. Some of the drugs sold internationally are actually manufactured in the US and repackaged for sale internationally. |
What if I don't have a copy of my prescription? |
If you do not have a copy of your prescription, with your permission we can contact your doctor and have him/her fax the prescription directly to us. |
